Partnering With Hope Floats

Hope Floats partners with high-quality swim schools to provide scholarships to children living in poverty to get swimming lessons. Hope Floats Foundation raises money by partnering with individuals, businesses, and foundations that want to be a force for good in their communities.  Scholarships and tuition assistance are provided to children who might not otherwise be able to afford swim lessons.  Hope Floats Foundation provides 3-month scholarships for swimming lessons for children who qualify for free/reduced lunch. The scholarship program requires that all families contribute financially to their lessons. Little Fins Swim School is pleased to announce it has become a sustaining partner of the Hope Floats Foundation.

Hope Floats Foundation is a national nonprofit whose mission is to prevent drownings by providing financial assistance for swim lessons. Hope Floats partners with local communities to offer financially needed assistance at over 200 swim school locations in 32 different states.

The equivalent of 13 school buses full of children die each year in the United States due to drownings. Studies at the National Institute of Health show that swim lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by 88%.

“There is a huge need for swim lessons, and the kids that need them most- lower socio-economic level kids they’re not getting them,” said Cindy Tonnesen, founder of the Hope Floats Foundation. She continued, “We are saving kids, but there are more we need to reach, and we have the ability and resources to do it.”

PENNY WARS

Every Instructor and Staff Member at Little Fins has a Donation Jar. Bring your Pennies In to the pool this week to Support Your Favorites!

We are hosting Penny Wars now through May 4, 2024. We are raising money for our partnership with the Hope Floats Foundation. This organization is a non-profit (501(c)3) that focuses on getting more children the life-saving skill of swimming. For some families, swim lessons are cost-prohibitive, and this is the fundraiser that will benefit these children! Both locations will have jars to donate. Your job will be to add pennies, silver coins, or dollars to the jar(s) of your choice. The monies will turn into POINTS (or negative points) for each instructor or administrator.

At the end of the fundraiser, the swim instructor with the LOWEST points will jump into the pool with their winter clothes on. The instructor with the HIGHEST points will be jumping in with their summer clothes on....which is WAY more fun!

Help your favorite instructor out by adding pennies and/or dollars to their jar. Or by adding silver coins to their competitors' jars.

Can't make it in person? While it won't go towards the penny wars totals, it will help us! We have a donation link to help our partnership.

Remember, all money donated will help us succeed in our mission to make swim lessons available to all children in our community.
