1 on 1 Lessons Make a Difference

 The Why

People often ask what distinguishes us from other swim schools. That's an easy answer and one that has been learned after years of experience. Your child gets 100% of their teacher's attention. It is one-on-one teaching instruction that makes the difference. This is the main reason why our students become safe in the water in a very short amount of time! That is our ultimate goal for each and every swim student who attends Little Fins Swim School.

We are absolutely confident in our swim program. Your child WILL learn to swim at Little Fins! We are not the cheapest swim school in Colorado Springs, we offer QUALITY, CARING, PROGRESSIVE swim lessons. Your child will learn to swim with our incredibly talented swim instructors!

One-on-one vs. Group Swimming Lessons: What's the Best Choice?

There are many options for swim instruction out there, but what is the best choice? Ask a few questions to find the right fit for your family. Read more.

One-on-one Instruction:

  • Your child will learn to swim at Little Fins with our incredible instructors!

What to bring:

A swim diaper for children not yet potty-trained, swimsuit, and a towel. We do not provide goggles, but we also recommend not allowing goggles until your child has passed water safety.

Instructor Levels

Beginner/New Instructors - Beginner Instructors have completed the rigorous training program with Little Fins, and are working on earning their hours and additional certifications. While they may be new to Little Fins, they have taught, worked in the aquatics field, and swam for many years. Beginner Instructors are simply working their way up our instructor levels to become Advanced.

Advanced Instructors - Advanced Instructors have worked at Little Fins for at least 6 months to 1 year. They demonstrate the ability to teach successful lessons and do so at least 6 shifts a week. They are CPR certified and attend the required number of ongoing professional development workshops, earning hours and credits, annually, along with volunteering in our community.

Training Instructors - Training Instructors are Little Fins highest level instructors. They have been teaching for many years and work with our Beginner and Advanced Instructors to continue their training. They provide ongoing feedback in an effort to continue to grow and learn. We highly value professional development at Little Fins. Our Training Instructors are professional swim teachers, who have made this their career. They are leaders in the field nationally, and attend local and national conferences. They continue their learning, as well as lead and provide insight with our peer institutions. They are passionate about water safety and survival.

Instructors, Substitutes & Changes

Almost all of our instructors are part time employees. The down side of that is we do have turnover. Our average coach stays 1-5 years. Our training instructors have worked for us on average for 4-5 years. We require our instructors to commit to six months when taking an instructor position, but sometimes they do not live up to their commitment, or we make changes for the overall good of Little Fins Swim School. Ultimately, we all have to deal with change. Learning from other instructors enables children to learn about change and grow from another teacher who is passionate about water safety and teaching, in a world that values flexibility. It is our goal to teach your child to swim and to meet your swim goals. All of our instructors are highly trained and love teaching. On occasion, and due to new sick leave policies and protocols, you may occasionally have a substitute instructor. When possible, we will notify you of any changes, via email and/or text message, depending on how much time we are given to make the substitute changes. Please be sure your contact information is correct in our scheduling system. We do not share your information with any 3rd party vendors.
